Healthy Life Toolkit

I am excited to share a wonderful bunch of resources with you that support me to be the Mum I want to be as well as a successful woman in business. Health and wellness must be a keystone of this and requires a purposeful approach. I can’t say that all of this comes easy to me and I am still working on being more scheduled with accessing all of my preferred healthy life care providers. I am finding that it helps me to book appointments ahead. Don’t stress over getting all of these into your day, week or month – creating stress over would be totally counterproductive. Go gently.

This is my toolkit and I can’t be sure that every aspect of it is right for you. I invite you to consider these options to embrace your own healthy life and consult with your own health care providers to find the right balance and to build your own health and wellness toolkit. It doesn’t have to be expensive – many of the items in my toolkit are FREE.

Many mentors would have advised me to sell this information as an e-book but right now I choose to release it to you here with full trust that if it is valuable to you, you will share it and in turn help to share the message about Little Eco Nest and change your life. The toolkit itself is all here, available for free on the blog for now. I feel that it is personal information for Mums, maybe I would charge if I was writing a ‘Healthy Business Toolkit’ 😛 that might be used for profit. This one is just to share whatever has been shared with me, about living a healthy life and I so very much hope that you profit from it in the best of ways – finding the inspiration to consider opening yourself to a higher level of self care.

The main concept I would love you to embrace is that you are involved. You can’t outsource health, you are health! You can do it x You can be the best version of yourself, and you deserve to live a healthful and vital life. Having a family doesn’t need to mean neglecting your heart, body or soul. A healthy life doesn’t have to be overwhelming and it can definitely be easy and rewarding.

Tools for Your Healthy Life

Water

Sources differ on recommended intake but almost all suggest between 2-3L/day for a pregnant or breastfeeding mother. Water intake is such a foundation to wellness and a healthy life for busy Mums and without it you may experience symptoms such as tiredness, confusion, weakness, headaches, mood swings and lethargy.  I use the Waterlogged App for iPhone {affiliate link} to track intake and remind me to keep hydrated. I drink filtered water as my personal choice, among other reasons to reduce or avoid chemicals in tap water for example those left after the chloramination process and flouride. I also use Klean Kanteen water bottles to store and transport clean, free water. I have dear friends that source water from a spring, how divine!

Sleep

7-9 hours per day [Read more about this recommendation at the Australian Centre for Education in Sleep]

Now I know that for some mothers, especially some of our community that are sole parents or mothers of twins, or under so many other unique circumstances even 7 hours sleep would be a dream. In that case we just suggest focus on good quality sleep. We recently began the process of upgrading our bed. We have a king size bed to facilitate comfortable co-sleeping and we are also investing in good sleep with the help of a natural latex mattress the dedicated support of The Comfort Shop* who are one of our valued sponsors. We will have a great post in the near future dedicated to sleep so do register to receive our blog post notifications [email + click ‘keep in touch’ in the right sidebar].

Local, chemical free and/or organic food

We support the delightful family team at Casuarina Farm organic food delivery and Magic Meadow who is our local farm produce collection point for chemical free and organic. The majority of what these families sell is sourced from local farms which is exciting. Of course the optimal source of fruit and vegetables is from your own garden and we are working hard on our own garden after moving house and starting afresh last year. Watch this space! Can’t wait to share our garden transformations with you.

Chiropractic

Every 2-6 weeks our whole family see Katelyn, Nicole or Daniel at Pioneer Family Chiropractic. Many view chiro as a reactive treatment rather than a family friendly proactive health care initiative. You can find a practitioner near you here.

Yoga

Daily or at least 2-3 times per week
Today there are so many options to access Yoga in any easy low or no cost way.

Researchers have discovered that the regular practice of yoga may produce many health benefits, including increased fitness and normalisation of blood pressure. Yoga is a renowned antidote to stress. Over time, yoga practitioners report lower levels of stress, and increased feelings of happiness and wellbeing. This is because concentrating on the postures and the breath acts as a powerful form of meditation. Better Health Australia.

We utilize Apple technology including the Apple TV system allowing us to push to our TV screen; that allows me to push content from our iPad or iPhone to our television. Of course there is nothing like connecting with others in local yoga practice. Our son has attended kids yoga at Yoga Dojo and in Geelong we also have Geelong City Yoga and Bikram Yoga Geelong . You can search for Yoga providers near you at Yoga Australia.

Kinesiology

Every 2 months, I see Diana Isgro. Kinesiology is a holistic health treatment providing energetic balance for your body and to assist the natural healing processes. Kinesiology has been one of the more ‘out there’ additions to my wellness approach and coming from a conservative upbringing I found it a little confronting at first. I have the belief that some things in life require trust and belief. Like most natural health pursuits, I have found it very effective and the proof is in the pudding, as they say. Many private health insurers are now paying out on Kinesiology which is good to know.

Meditation

Daily meditation is an element of healthy living that I am beginning to incorporate with more focused intention. As with Yoga there are many options for low or no cost access. I can recommend our affiliate Leonie Dawson’s Chakra Healing Meditation or Releasing Fears Meditation. You can also make use of your iPhone again and grab the free Naturespace: Relax Meditate Escape Sleep App. This awesome and comprehensive article talks about meditation and only needing a few minutes of benefit, so imagine what a long term meditation could do for us? I’m a firm believer in using the technology you have available to you to simplify and improve the quality of your life and meditation has those great benefits to offer. Meditation ” can help you feel less stressed, boost your concentration and improve your sense of wellbeing.” “…but to get the benefits you need to do it regularly”. (ABC Meditation Kit) #gogetit #findpeace

Green smoothies

It is no secret (check out my this this and this post on the topic) that I start my day with a green smoothie. I find that the smoothie helps me to sustain myself throughout the day. The smoothie works hand in hand with water so I wouldn’t recommend to do this one without the water element.

Fresh juice

I add a fresh juice in the afternoon to pep my day. Because of the FODMAP I am limited in some ways with ingredients; right now I am making a kale, carrot and orange juice which is outstandingly delish and after it I feel focused and fab. {YOU ARE FABULOUS}. To get the fullest dose of goodness from your juice, do drink it straight away.

Massage

This is a fairly neglected element of my self care but one that I see remarkable benefits with and believe is just generally great for the soul. The power of touch is substantial especially in modern society where often we go without basic touch in our day. Massage is also often covered by private health. Be sure you get what you are wanting, a remedial massage has a different function that a massage for relaxation. You can find an option in your area at the Association of Remedial Masseurs. If you are local you might consider the Ocean Grove Remedial Massage Centre. I see a city based practitioner and haven’t actually visited these guys [yet] but they are active on FB and I am impressed with their enthusiasm and good feedback.

Organisation

Ok this might make you laugh, but organisation is mostly equal to less stress and therefore a much more healthy life. Organisation is comfort for me. I use the BillTracker app {affiliate link here} to feel in control of what bills are due.  I then use an awesome family organisation app for cloud sync our calendar across devices, for menu planning and multiple lists including for keeping our pantry stocked, but I am seeking approval to share the name of it with you! Will update this post as soon as I can. This all said, being organised also give the freedom to completely let go some days, just knowing that it wont be an irreversible great mess if you step aside a moment.

Support

This tool is an essential; you really deserve support. No matter your circumstances it is ok to ask for support and to accept it when offered. We need each other. Without my friends listening, my suppliers being flexible, my sponsors being open and my family trusting the value of what I do, we couldn’t be where we are at today. We also have had amazing support from the most beautiful Au Pairs.

Back yourself too, love yourself and offer your self compassion and kindness. If it doesn’t start within your heart, how can you expect to share it with the world? Or if that doesn’t drive you, because I know how hard buy accutane cheap this is and as I have already said, not all of what I write here comes easy to me necessarily – if you have a day when you can’t love yourself for you: do it to show your children how to treat themselves. Because you want them to know love, to see themselves the way you do and to be able to speak kindness out to the universe. #itstartswithin

Meaning

Finally, I believe that a healthy life has meaning, purpose and a sense of belonging. Love and laugh! These 2 things give meaning to life, and joy! I strongly encourage you to write out what you want in this life and to be very specific. On nothing but intuition I trust the power of manifestation and I know that it will help you to get to a stronger, happier and healthier place.

I’m so thrilled that you got to the end of the post. Can you spare another little click for me and like my FB page? So so appreciated xx
