Just a quick post: wanted to share my success making a green shake jam packed with sustain-me-we-have-a-busy-day-coming-up goodness.
It is green, but looks brown ;P This seems to make it something amazing to my children. Although they have never known from experience what ‘chocolate milk’ of more conventional fame looks like, the get lexapro prescription concept of chocolate milk seems to have universal appeal. They have taken to calling this Mummy’s chocolate banana milk shake.
My green protein shake recipe for kids:
2.5 cups oat milk or similar
5 ice cubes
Hemp seed oil if you live in a country where consuming this is legal [you could sub flaxseed oil, though not as healthful]
1 Teaspoon to 1/2 Tblsp MicrOrganics Spirulina powder
2 Tablespoons Raw Cacao Powder
1 Frozen Banana
1 Tablespoons Vital Protein Pea Protein Powder
Handful of green leafies like spinach or kale if you have it on hand
1/2 Teaspoon Coconut Sugar [I started with this as a ‘sweetener’ but no longer need to add it]
1/2 Teaspoon Mesquite Powder (optional and is also a sweetener of sorts particularly noticeable to a sugar free palate)
The children love this and will ask me to make it almost every day. The stsrong chocolate and banana flavours make it easier to introduce the ‘green’ flavours and you can then back off on the sweeter stuff. You can also add 1/2-1 Tablespooon of Olive Leaf extract if someone has a cold or other immune challenge. This shake recipe makes 2 large sized children’s green shakes. It’s just like a chocolate milkshake only SUPERpowered!
